Rex Ryan named new Jets coach

Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan was named new head coach of the New York Jets this week. Ryan leaves Baltimore to take over a team that went 9-7 in 2008 and finished third in the AFC east.

Ryan has spent the previous ten years with the Ravens, during the last year carrying the role of assistant head coach. He receives a four year deal.

Brett Favre is still undecided if he will return next season but Ryan has said he will speak with him in hopes of a return. There are also several key Ravenís defensive players that are free agents at the conclusion of the Super Bowl. If he is able to lure some of them over to sure up the defense maybe he can take the Jets into the playoffs sooner rather then later.
